Offering both family and individual healthcare plans, Western Provident Association, or WPA, has over 100 years in the insurance field. WPA is a not-for-profit association who focuses solely on the customer’s value rather than the shareholder’s value. The greatest principle of WPA Is to help its policyholders fund the best healthcare and treatment services in the most competitive blend of premiums and benefits.
The winner of the British Insurance Awards for 2009, WPA is a non-profit company dedicated to the customers it serves. The plans offered by WPA are suitable for the self-employed, professionals and families as well as company plans and other special insurance plans including dental insurance. WPA has been settling claims since 1991 with a careful eye on the customer satisfaction and overall health services.
WPA has three categories of plans that cover the range of individuals and families seeking private healthcare plans.
Flexible Health Insurance
The Flexible plan is customized healthcare suitable for families and individuals. The plans advertised on the WPA website give a sample rate of £6.60 per month after a professional discount. The Flexible health plan gives you the option to choose from three different levels of coverage and also includes an optional cover for cancer drugs not available through NHS. By using “Shared Responsibility” and paying for a portion of the claim, you can significantly reduce your premiums for every plan.
- Essentials level:
The lowest level of coverage available in the Flexible plan, the essentials level includes in and day-patient coverage for private surgery. The plan covers hospital and surgeon fees as well as a NHS hospital cash benefit and non-emergency surgery. The essentials level does not cover medical treatment or emergency or cancer surgeries. The essentials level also includes out-patient treatment such as pre-admission tests and consultations as well as physiotherapy. It does not cover out-patient procedures.
- Premier level:
The premier level of healthcare coverage includes in and day-patient procedures included in the essentials level plus surgical treatment, medical treatment and diagnostic tests and scans. The out-patient treatment again includes everything from essentials, but also diagnostic scans and out-patient procedures.
- Elite level:
The top level of WPA’s insurance coverage includes everything from previous plans as well as cancer coverage, travel emergency insurance, dental, optical and health screenings.
XS Health Insurance:
A unique program, XS is available for young individuals who are less than twenty-five and seeking low monthly premiums with a great deal of protection. Under XS, you can claim up to £150,000 per person per year for hospitals, out-patient treatment, scans, tests, physiotherapy and cancer coverage. You will also be able to choose your own specialist at the hospital of your choice located anywhere in the UK. The plan includes a rolling excess of £1,500 per person.
Active Health Insurance:
Designed for older adults who are still active, Active is available for adults who are 55 or older looking for a bit of comfort with a no upper age limit on a healthcare plan. The premiums for the Active plan are up to 80 percent lower than traditional full coverage health plans. Under the Active plan, you have £150,000 per year to use for specialists and hospitals across the UK.
Additional Benefits Offered
WPA has a handful of discounts and additional benefits for new customers.
